Bolting the Trackabout Roof Topper to Milo's rack changed the whole nature of my traveling life. I used to be the last to hit the swag and always up before the dawn but now I'm quite happy to retire early and enjoy a sleep in too! Why? Because this unit transforms camping from a dirty on the ground exercise into a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. Trackabout's roof topper is faster to setup than a swag, makes for great views,better breezes and keeps the bugs and bindis down on the ground where they belong. Best of all you can flick it up anywhere from the side of an outback road to just above the high tide mark. Trackabout products have always offered dead honest strength and value for money and this one's true to the breed in any way. Yep, it's that bloody good I'm proud I helped John develop it! OK, so I helped empty his fridge while we diddled on the beer coolers.

When I first started looking about at camper trailers I knew nothing about them. I went and visited most of the camper manufacturers in Brisbane to learn what I could try and get the best possible quality camper while sticking to my budget. I found that most manufactures knew little about there own product and were quick to put down everyone else's product, until I walked into Trackabout. I was walked through the construction process as well as shown the products used, and was not put under any pressure to commit there and then. Thanks for the help you have given Kym and myself since starting our camper trailer hire business. We can honestly say that from the start of April 2003, when we began operating as Coast N' Country Camper Trailer Hire, we have not encountered any major damage apart from normal wear and tear. We've both been really happy with the Camper and being first time Camper Trailer users have found it an easy and comfy changeover. The long Drawbar makes reversing easy and thesetting up for shorty's like us takes no time. The options for weather protection have been well thought out buy you guys for a quick stop to flooding galing storms. We both like to Wind Surf and find ourselves in windy locations which although can be worrying, seeing the Annexe poles bow, we can't complain as we sit inside still able to play cards. We have been working in Townsville since Easter to cash up before heading North. One option we didn't give much thought while shopping around for a Trailer, but has made a huge difference for room inside and out is the 10'floor. It wouldn't be the same without it. Saw your article in 4wd Monthly and thought it was great.

                                                                  The first camping trip was a baptism of fire for the new camper. Everything from crossing flooded creeks up to the trailer floor, to 4-6 inches of torrential rain, thunder, lighting and severe winds. 
But the trailer and us came through dry and totally safe with a good nights sleep. The only hitch was a small drip over the bed which sealed up over night and two bent tent poles due to sever winds. Might have to invest in more walls for this type of extreme camping, but extremely happy with your product and other campers extremely impressed with the trailer’s versatility whatever was thrown at it.

In terms of our trip it was the first time we had used the Camper Trailer,and it rained every night for the entire week...days were relatively dry thankfully.On some nights we awoke thinking that we were sleeping under a waterfall,and spend a couple of minutes looking for leaks.   You may recall my purchase of one of your demonstration models of the subject trailer. My wife Maureen and I, after considerable window-shopping, choose the trailer for the outstanding features and simplified erecting after a long day driving. 
We have not been disappointed with any aspect of the trailer and, I offer the following testimonial in respect to the trouble free camping and touring that Trackabout has given us.


The trailer engineering has impressed me with its solid construction and seven leaf shackle mount springs. The 16’’ tyres have provided adequate clearance. The finish in hammer tone enamel enhances the appearance of a well-designed trailer. 
After a number of outback trips on very corrugated and dusty roads I am pleased to report, apart from the odd stone chip there hasn’t been any maintenance requirements, except of course for the checking and regreasing of wheel bearings. We are particularly pleased with the trailers almost dust free intake.

Just some news about our Safari Camper.Our outings so far have included the NSW 4WD club's Jamboree, some,decent rain & wind at Oberon and our recent big trip.We've just returned from a trip to far-west NSW,SA & Victoria. We managed to find some tough going near Milparinka, and back to Broken Hill; but the Safari towed really well. It was also a godsend with those Jerrycan Holders! Our Family of four slept dry and in comfort every night,and set-up & pack-up is not a drama like the old 'Taj-mahal'tent we had! Everywhere we stopped, fellow Campers admired the quality of the Safari, especially the sturdy construction, Kitchen set-up & features like the Water Tank, Tool Box etc.

We are yet to go on any big adventures, but have tackled our favourite haunts (Noosa north shore, Rainbow and Levuka) The campers trails behind our Nissan Terrano without a problem, (even my wife can handle it) It took me 3 months and 4 manufactures to finally decide on the Trackabout, and I am really satisified with my decision. It goes up without any problems and in no time at all. Well I just thought I would congratulate Trackabout on the trouble free trip we just completed to the Tip of Australia. We bought the Trailer some 4 years ago and in all honestly I still look around at other Trailers on the market when camping and you can really see the difference in workmanship through quality and strength. I was a little worried at first if the Trailer would get to the Tip but it was trouble free the whole way. We saw other Trailers on the way with broken Springs, snapped Axles and full of dust inside.

12 months on and I'm still over the moon with my Super Safari,I look back and without a doubt what sold me on the Safari was your enthusiasm and commitment to good old customer service.
Considering I'm in Tasmania and you are in Qld everything went remarkably well,from the numerous emails to organising carriers.
The last 12 months the Safari has been pretty much everywhere in Tassie,the Wild West Coast to the remote Central Highlands and summer camping at Birdport for 4 weeks at Christmas.
Easter we camped on the West Coast of Tassie and received extreme weather enormous winds and rain,the Safari never missed a beat had the full Annex up it was like home away from home.
The trackabout Safari certainly creates interest wherever we go people are amazed at the roominess of the 10' Tent and Annex area.
Very happy with the Stainless kithchen, a great inclusion.

We have just returned from out trip across the country. We travelled form Melbourne to Darwin via Innamincka, Birdsville, Mt Isa and across the Gulf and then home via Alice Springs and across the Oodnadatta track. 
The trailer ran like a dream, we got more dust and water in the Discovery than in the trailer. At times it was hard to believe we were towing the trailer, it ran so well. After the first few days Libby and I found we could set-up camp in a matter of minutes, we are true experts now. The extra depth on the tonneau cover was also a great bonus, as we were able to get all the bedding (ie 3 sleeping bags, pillows, donna and the kids stretchers) on top of our bed. 

You can’t possible sell another safari without the gas struts on the lid, they are essential (we were the envy of many other trailer campers). 
We only saw one other Trackabout camper on our whole journey, an English family travelling for 18 months, from Brisbane.

By the time we’d settled on a Trackabout Safari after visiting and researching what seemed like an endless number of camper manufacturers and retailers in the Brisbane / Gold Coast area we knew we were getting the quality that would take us wherever we wanted to go. In the 10 months since we bought the Safari we have spent more nights in it than in our own home. It has taken us from the remotes of the northern Kimberley’s to the beaches of Cooloola and just about every type of camping / travelling in between without a glitch. Well, except for that one time when beer and the operation of a gas stove weren’t a great combination (thanks again for the new flyscreen in the kitchen!); and that other time when someone forgot to secure the locking pin in the hitch. Let’s just say the safety chains they fit to these things have been field tested – and passed. But clouds of red dust still puff from the car when you slam a door, and we have never slept in a wet or dusty bed.
What we didn’t count on though was the unparalleled commitment of John, Brett, Krystal and the rest of the Trackabout team to their trailers and their customers. We have never before experienced a level of after sales service, support, advice, alterations or just a simple chat like we do with the Trackabout team. We know now that they don’t just build and sell trailers – they understand our passion for travelling and camping, and hence our need for a top quality product and support. We can’t thank the whole team enough for extra level of comfort, security and enjoyment (no more tents and blow up beds!) that the Safari has added to our travels and camps.

(The one we bought from you last July).  Our journey from Melbourne to Nhulunbuy in the NT went well, and since arriving we have enjoyed a number of weekends away in some remote corners of Arnhem Land.  It is great to be able to comfortably accomodate the whole family, and be fully self contained.
The transfer of registration has been completed, thank you for going the extra mile on that for us, it made a big difference.

Hi John and the Trackabout Team,

  Just a short note with some feedback about your trailers and indeed your service.

From our first meeting at the Brisbane Caravan and Camping show I have been a Trackabout fan. Your sales service was exceptional - no pushy tactics, just good honest information with no pressure. Delivery was ahead of schedule and I was kept informed all the way through, with my last minute 'minor changes' being attended to without question or complaint. This same top level service still continues to date and whenever I ring with a question or a request it is attended to promptly and without any drama.

Now about the trailer - couldn't be happier with it! In the 12 months that we have owned it we have dragged it across some pretty rugged country, including the Telegraph Track (no chicken tracks were taken) and it hasn't given us a moment's trouble and makes our camping all the more enjoyable. The tent is easy to put up, it is roomy, the kitchen (stainless steel upgrade) is practical and stylish and as far as strength goes - it is built like a brick shithouse - practically unbreakable.

In case you haven't guessed - we're impressed. You are to be congratulated on providing such a high level of product as well as such excellent sales and after sales service - keep up the good work.
